Team Building in Rome: A Treasure Hunt in Electric Méhari

Three hours, four stops, one team per car — and they do the driving. No host explaining rules for half an hour, no app to download, and at the end the company takes home the photos and videos, already edited.

How it works

Each team gets a car and a code on the dashboard. They scan it with a phone and a private map opens with the route and four markers: from that moment they move around Rome on their own.

At every stop there is a question you can only answer by actually looking at the place — it is not on the internet — and a task to photograph. Until they answer, the next stop stays locked. Get lost and you lose time; look harder and you gain places.

We start from via Labicana, five minutes from the Colosseum. The stops are the Forum Boarium, the Aventine with the keyhole, and the Appian Way on the original paving. Then the finish at Piazza del Popolo, with the four cars lined up for the toast and the prize-giving.

Why it beats a company dinner

In a normal team activity half the people stand and watch. Not here: four of you in an open car, one drives, one navigates, one answers and one takes the pictures — and the roles swap by themselves, without anyone assigning them.

It works because the cars are open: teams run into each other in the street, they see each other, they heckle at traffic lights. That is the difference between four groups doing the same thing separately and one game happening across a city.

And the electric drive changes the tone: you talk in a normal voice while driving instead of shouting over an engine. At the third stop, on the Appian paving, we ask for fifteen seconds of video in complete silence — all you hear is stone under the wheels. It is the part everyone describes the next day.

What the company gets, and nobody else provides

The teams’ photos and videos reach us while the game is still running. By the time the participants cross the finish line the material is ready: it goes up on a screen at Piazza del Popolo during the toast, twenty minutes after it was shot.

The agency or the HR team leaves with the whole set the same evening — not in three days, not after an edit. For an internal communications team that is the difference between a nice afternoon and something they can actually publish.

Numbers and practicalities

Four cars, four teams, up to sixteen people. Three hours door to door, briefing included. Whoever drives needs a category B license held for at least a year; the others need nothing. We meet at via Labicana 123/A, five minutes on foot from the Colosseum, and we can start from your venue if it is inside Rome.
