Castelli Romani and Lake Albano, a Full Day from Rome — You Drive

from €390for two · +€75 per adult, +€50 per child
⏱ full day, 09:00 – 18:30🗣 English and Italian🗺 roadbook included🔒 private experience

You leave from a few steps off the Colosseum and, twenty minutes later, you're in another Italy: the ancient Appian Way under your wheels, the vineyards of Frascati, the villas of popes and princes, all of Rome seen from the Tusculum lookout. One electric Méhari all to yourselves, our Castelli Romani roadbook, no one else. You drive.

The itinerary, stop by stop

9:00 am · check-in on Via LabicanaYou set off — steps from the ColosseumThe car is waiting with the top down and a full charge. A fifteen-minute briefing, the roadbook on your knees, then out of the traffic — for good.
The Appian WayRoman paving stones, centuries-old pines, ancient mausoleums. Drive it slowly, in electric silence: you hear birdsong, not an engine.
Castel Gandolfo & the lakeThe popes' summer palace above Lake Albano. Your roadbook marks the photo stop where the view opens widest.
Frascati — the winery we recommendA family-run winery we know by name: a glass of Frascati DOC, vineyards as far as the eye can see. If you like, we'll reserve a table in your name — you pay at the winery.
GrottaferrataThe abbey of San Nilo and the streets we call home. This isn't a guidebook stop — it's where we live.
Tusculum — the lookoutA scenic climb through the woods to the ruins of ancient Tusculum. From up there, Rome fits in a single glance.
ReturnBack at sunsetThe descent toward Rome in golden light, back to Via Labicana.

Primo Giro's eStory at sunset, ready for your drive
The car you will drive. Gina, Sophia, Claudia or Anita — your choice.

Gina

White. Against the ochre walls of Rome she disappears and lets the background speak.

Sophia

Orange. At golden hour she takes the same light as the brickwork and becomes the subject.

Mechanically they are identical — only the colour differs. You can say which one you would like when you book.

Where we meet

Via Labicana, Rome — next to Palazzo Manfredi
We hand the car over on the street with the Colosseum in front of you: check-in and route briefing in fifteen minutes, then you're off.

Frequently asked

Is the experience private?

Yes. The car is yours for the whole day: no groups, no guide on board, no convoy to follow. We give you the route in writing; you set the pace.

Where do we meet?

On Via Labicana in Rome, next to Palazzo Manfredi, a five-minute walk from the Colosseum. Check-in and briefing take about fifteen minutes.

Do I need an International Driving Permit?

If your licence was issued outside the European Union, yes: you need an International Driving Permit or a sworn Italian translation, together with your original licence. The permit must be obtained in your home country before you travel.

What happens if it rains?

You go anyway, in the very car you booked: the full nautical-canvas enclosure with windows keeps the cabin dry. In genuinely bad weather we move your date or refund you in full.

Can I bring children?

Yes. Our cars are road-homologated and fitted with seat belts, and child seats can be installed: we provide them on request. Up to 4 people per car.

Can we change the itinerary?

Yes. The roadbook is a starting point and the car is yours for the whole day. At the briefing we point out the best variations — more lake, more wine, fewer ruins.

Is the wine tasting included?

No, and that is deliberate: we point you to the winery we know and, if you like, reserve a table in your name, but you pay directly on site. It keeps our price honest and leaves you free to choose.

Is the range enough for the whole loop?

The full loop is around 60-70 km and the car is handed over fully charged: the range covers the whole route, there and back, with no charging stops.
