Wedding car hire in Rome and the Castelli Romani

An open Seventies car with hand-woven rope seats and a wooden steering wheel. Only it is electric: no noise, no fumes, and nothing dripped on the villa’s gravel. And on the day, if you want, you drive it yourselves.

Not one car: the convoy

Almost everyone concentrates on the couple’s car. A polished black saloon outside the church is a good photograph, but it is a photograph that already exists in a thousand identical weddings. Four Méhari in a row, open, the couple in the first and the witnesses and bridesmaids in the others, is a different thing: the arrival becomes a scene, and the photographer has twenty minutes of work instead of three frames on the church steps.

That is why we suggest the convoy rather than the single car — not to sell four, but because that is where the difference lies in the photographs you will be looking at in ten years. The cars are identical in shape and different only in color: white, orange, green and yellow. In a row they read as a sequence, not as a parking lot of mismatched vehicles.

Why electric, and not a real vintage car

A genuine vintage car is beautiful and brings three problems nobody mentions to the couple: it starts when it feels like it, it makes a noise that covers everything, and it leaks oil.

Ours is new underneath and classic on top. It always starts, it is quiet enough to be moved during the reception without anyone raising their voice, and it has no combustion engine — so no drips on the paving, no exhaust.

There is also something practical that matters in Rome: it is a quadricycle, and under the City of Rome’s own regulations quadricycles are admitted into the Historic Center restricted traffic zone, where a car needs an annual permit. If you are marrying in a church inside the center, the car gets there.

What the venue cares about, and the couple does not know

If the location is a historic villa, whoever runs it has a list of things they fear — and cars are almost always at the top. Ours go in where the others stay outside the gate.

No exhaust, so they can be brought into a closed courtyard or under a portico while the guests are at the table. No oil leaks on paving that is three hundred years old. No noise: they can be moved during the photo session without interrupting the speeches or the music. They are light and small, so they do not sink into gravel and they turn in spaces where a five-meter car needs ten manoeuvres.

How the day works

We bring the cars to the location ourselves, clean and charged, at the time you tell us. They stay for the agreed period, and we come and collect them at the end: you do not have to think about getting them there or back.

During the day you have two options, and neither is wrong. You drive, which is the finest way to leave a church and needs only a category B license. Or the car stays where the photographer wants it and works as a set: in front of the entrance, along the drive, among the olive trees. We stay on hand to move it when the light changes. It is the part wedding planners appreciate most, because it takes a worry off them.

Where we come

The base is in via Labicana in Rome, five minutes on foot from the Colosseum. We cover Rome and the Castelli Romani — Frascati, Grottaferrata, Castel Gandolfo, Nemi, Ariccia — and the countryside around them. Further afield, ask: it depends on the day and on how many cars you need.

From when

The cars are on the road from 13 March 2027. Wedding planners close the 2027 season between the autumn and the winter, so if your date is in that season this is the moment to ask, not the spring.
